It`s always tough during the winter months, it`s all jobs to do and none of the fun......the RACING!
That said, our winter over 2024 and into 2025 has been a little different. When last season finished (with a Class win for the 3rd year in a row at the Birkett Relay) Woodstock went straight to Mark Hadfield Motorsport for some winter TLC.
Given the fact that Woodstock is where we want him to be performance wise, the rules of the Puma Cup mean you can only do so much - this winter it was about care and maintenance. Mark has done a great job patching up some panels, reinforcing others and servicing the car ready for this year.
When we got the car back last weekend, the only jobs for us to do are to put in the new fire extinguisher, have a clean up and a wash and we are ready to go!
So what does Puma Cup 2025 look like?
Well for starters we have a solid calendar.
It`s our intention to do as many rounds as possible this year although we will be on holiday over the Brands Hatch weekend.
New additions this year are Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire, the PC has been here before but we didn`t race that weekend, it was also a standalone Puma race that about a dozen cars entered, where have they all gone???
Castle Combe is also a new one for us, we were unable to make it last time the CSCC were there but I`m looking forward to it this time around.
In terms of numbers.....I`m speculating here but I think we could have a grid of 10+ at some point this season.....
In no particular order.........
Jon Glover
Luke Johnson
Jamie Clare
Gareth Cotgrove
Martin Smithson
Gordon Bagwell
Mark Jackson
Neil Jackson
Matthew Everatt
Lets hope we can all make it to the same round sometime, I know there are another couple of cars in build too - it`d be great to see them out as well.
So we get going this weekend at Silverstone, on the International configuration, the last time on this layout was actually my PC debut back in 2019, I managed a fastest lap of........ 1m 28.377s against a the races fastest lap of 1m 24.329s by Luke Johnson - I hop in the time since then I`ve improved enough to not be 4 seconds slower than Luke! I wonder if weather permitting a 1m 23.9 is on the cards?
The event will be live streamed by the CSCC - Keep your eyes peeled to our social feeds and when that is available I`ll share it with you.
We are due to qualify at 10:20am and then we have a decent gap until our race which is due to start at 17:20
if you would like to come along say hello, please do - It`d be great to see you.
We`ll be going all out for the win on Sunday - Lets start as we mean to go on!
GO GO GO GO GUROBA!!!!!!!
yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaa
